The Choir’s season starts with first rehearsals in early September each year, and concludes with a concert in May the following year. There is usually a concert in November, and another just before Christmas.
The most recent works have included Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn ( May 1999), The Creation by Joseph Haydn (November 1999), Messiah by Georg Fredrick Handel (December 1999), Belshazzar’s Feast by Sir William Walton (May 2000), St. Nicolas by Benjamin Britten (December 2000) Mass in B minor by JS Bach (May 2001) and Magnificat by John Rutter (December 2001).
Rehearsals are held each Wednesday evening at the South Farnham School, Menin Way, Farnham, Surrey starting at 7.30 pm, and lasting two hours. The choir is also assisted by its skilled accompanist, Brenda Stokes, and all rehearsals open with warm-up exercises. No auditions are held, the only entry requirement being enthusiasm. There is no need to be able to read music, although it certainly helps!
