For the new millennium, the Farnham & Bourne Choral Society commissioned a new work from its musical director, Robin Wells. On Saturday 13th May 2000 the choir presented the world premiere of a Festival Te Deum by Robin Wells, with a full orchestra in support. Robin used the initial letters of the choir’s name (FBCS) as a main motif, substituting the German B flat for the B, and E flat for the S. The motif is, thus, built around F-Bb-C-Eb, and includes a plainsong section.

The Te Deum was enthusiastically and affectionately sung by the choir and played by the orchestra, was listened to with rapt attention by a capacity audience, and concluded to resounding applause.
